Tackle It Tuesday 1.5.10 Edition

Happy New Year! New Year's Resolutions and Tackle it Tuesday's go hand in hand! LOVE IT! I love Tackle it Tuesday....when I first started blogging, I looked forward to Tackle it Tuesday's because each week I tackled a project from start to finish and loved posting my before & after pictures! The great thing about life, a household with 6 people 4 of them being kids...there is always a project that needs tackling! One of my major goals for 2010 is to focus on family and friends and having a house that is organized and well ran is a must for this goal! I am also focusing on my daily routines (which I posted yesterday) so during my work time on Tuesday's, I will be posting a project/task that needs tackling!

For the first TIT of the New Year....I have lots to choose from....however, a good portion of my day needs to be focused on CMSL and the Futsal schedule, however, I have a bunch of little fires that need putting out today so those will be what I am focusing on:

1. Hallway: We refinished (painted) the dressers drawers in both Gracie & Sydney's room this weekend. Everything got put back in it's place in Sydney's room but Gracie's drawers weren't dry yet so everything is still in the hallway in boxes. I need to either move the boxes back into her room so they are out of the way or get them emptied today!

2. Living Room: For some reason, Collin thinks he can drop his dirty clothes any where he wishes and the cleaning fairy will pick them up! Well, in front of the chair are his dirty clothes and some other piles of stuff that no one ever picks up...today the "trash fairy" may pick everything up!

3. Kitchen: it's a mess!Dishes need to be done, trash needs to be taken out and dining room table needs to be cleaned off...end of story!

4. Making Beds in all Bedrooms

5. Entry Way (this will be cleaned up once the girls head off to school!)

Tackle It Tuesday (9.1.2009)

I love to tackle a project...but today....I have a list of things that I need to get done instead of a project where I get to show you a before and after picture...maybe next week!

1. HS Girls CMSL Schedule
2. Scan and shred MYSA paperwork.
3. Laundry...need to do a load of darks and lights.
4. Take girls laundry to their room.
5. Clear off kitchen table today.
6. Put weekly routine on calendar.
7. Update big family calendar.

The list doesn't look to intimidating but #1 and #2 will take a majority of my day.

Tackle It Tuesday-8.25.2009

I haven't done a Tackle it Tuesday in quite sometime now...so here goes...figure this would be a good route to get started on my new school year routines and goals...to start with a TIT blog posting (since one of my goals is to blog daily!).

Today, I have a couple of items that need tackling today....

1. Freezer Chicks Cooking for Meal Exchange - we exchange this evening and I haven't started cooking yet! I have 3 meals to make times 6! Why do I wait until the last minute to do these things???? Why!!!!

2. Set goals and routines for the next month. I am going to tackle one month at a time because my life seems to change by the week!

3. Three loads of laundry...my laundry is so far behind!

Tackle It Tuesday (Sydney's Bedroom)

I'm embarrassed to upload a before picture of my daughter's room .....so I won't and upload the after when I get it finished. For some reason, Sydney's room becomes a drop off/hide it room for Gracie & Sydney's folded clothes, etc. There is no reason for this because I have plenty of room in their closets and drawers to put away their clothes. I am just a little lazy, I guess!

My tackle for today is to put all of the clothes away properly, clean out her sock drawer and her dance drawer. I will post the after pictures when I have it completed!

Okay....I didn't get this project quite done. I have about half of it done. Something came up & I didn't get it completed before I had to leave for dance.

I did get my Christmas decorations put on the tree however...I will upload those pictures with the Tackle It Tuesday final project!

Tackle It Tuesday (Sitting Routines & a Few Other Loose Ends)

Today officially starts the beginning of my school routine. I realize that school started a couple of weeks ago BUT it took me that long to get the house back in order! Yesterday while driving to Sedalia, I thought about what I wanted to get accomplished this school year and I realized that I wasn't going to get these goals accomplished without sitting a daily routine for the school year! This morning during my quiet time, I developed my daily routine:

Monday/Wednesday/Friday:

5:45-6:00 am-Wake, shower & dress

6:30 am-Quiet Time

7:15-7:30 am-Wake the girls (Boys get up around 6:15 & are on the bus by 6:40 am)

7:30-8:30 am-While the girls are getting ready for school, empty dishwasher, put a load of laundry in, make beds, check email.

8:30 am -10:00 am-Head to gym-work out.

10:15 am-10:30 am-Take quick shower & dress for the day.

10:30 am to 12:00 pm-Work (CMSL)

12:00 pm to 1:00 pm-Eat lunch/Take break.

1:00 pm-4:00 pm-Housework, CMSL (if need), start dinner plans, etc.

4:00 pm-Start evening routine (recheck calendar) Every other Wednesday, work at the Academy from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.

5:00 pm-Start Dinner

7:00 pm-TV off/Homework time with kids. Every other Wednesday, attend Community Live @ Church.

Tuesday and Thursday: On Tuesday morning, the morning routine will be the same as M/W/F. At 12:30, I will be attending the Tuesday Bible study group. We will be studying a book by Joyce Meyer call "Battlefield of the Mind." The study will continue until November 13.

On Tuesday after the study, I will be picking up the girls and taking them to dance. They have dance from 4:30 to 8:15 pm. The evening routine will be the same as my M/W/F unless Connor has a soccer game.

On Thursday mornings, I will be attending, Take 2. A bible study at my church. Not sure what I'm taking yet. Our first meeting is this Thursday. Bible study is from 9:15 am to 11:15 am. After Bible study, a group of us usually go out for lunch. I really cherish this time, it's a great time for me to reconnect with a group of women & talk!

Thursday afternoon: We usually are done by 1:00 pm. I'm planning on using this afternoon to run errands-grocery store, etc.

On Thursday's, the girls have dance from 4:30 until 7:30 pm and I work the front desk on Thursday's as well.

With my daily routines in mind, here are my evening dinner plans:

Monday-Cook.

Tuesday-Cook.

Wednesday-Quick & easy meal for Community Live night & crockpot meal for work night.

Thursday-Crockpot dinner.

Friday-Family fun night-eat out, pizza, etc.

What are we having this week?

Monday-done

Tuesday-We will be eating dinner early (around 4 pm). Connor has a game in Smithton at 7:30 pm & we will be leaving town around 5:00 pm. We are having Garlicky Spaghetti & Chicken Tenders. I'm sure that Connor will eat again after his game. The rest of the family can eat when they get home.

Wednesday-Chili Pork Chops, Steamed Veggies & Salad.

Thursday-Something in the crockpot-not sure yet.

Friday-We will be eating out, if Connor plays on Friday evening in Smithton.

Last tackle it project....tying up loose ends or things that I need to do today (or this week will work too!) still!

1. Finish entering MYSA registrations. Mail them out this evening.

2. Get dance bags ready for girls.

3. Finish cleaning girls room.

4. Finish packing up garage sale items in garage.

5. Call library to make donation of garage sale books.

Tackle It Tuesday (Playing Catch Up!)

I have been rather busy the last couple of weeks & I have let a lot of things pile up around the house & on my desk. Since the end of July, I have been busy scheduling soccer games & getting the CMSL league up & running. We just completed 2 weekends & I have a couple of weekends where we don't have any league games being played because of local tournaments. So no assigning referees or scheduling issues. This week, I have a lot of items that I need to catch up on so my Tackle it Tuesday will be a list of things that I need to get done this week....it would be really great if I could get them done today BUT I do need to leave the house & do a few errands. Here is what needs to be tackled:
1. Put laundry away.
2. Re-organize the boys room.
3. Wash sheets & freshen all linens.
4. Put school paper boxes away-right now they are sitting in my LR in front of the front door...what a welcoming site :-(
5. Return trash can.
6. Go through shoes in basket by door & put in proper bedroom.
7. Clean upstairs bathroom (wow! I can now differentiate between upstairs & downstairs!)
8. Go through cookbooks on sideboard table in kitchen.
9. Prepare my 3 freezer meals for the Freezer Chicks.
10. Enter remaining MYSA registrations.
11. Update referee information on new program.
12. Clean Master Bedroom.
13. Clean GLHs Bedroom.
14. Clean SJHs Bedroom.
15. Take camera to Columbia Photo.
16. Email regarding audio tapes-transfering them to CDs for Christmas.
17. Update calendar for Mom-add soccer games etc.
18. Mop floors.
19. Dust.
20. Start packing up items from garage sale.
21. Clean out car.
Well, this is a start...I have a lot more things that need to be done. I don't want to overwhelm myself even though I have already been there and back!

Tackle It Tuesday (Getting it All Done!)

After cleaning out the garage & working up in the attic, I discovered items that I was saving & those items got dumped into my downstairs family room. In addition to cleaning up this room I have several other things that need to be accomplished before I get up in the attic for my garage sale (yes-another garage sale) to get down items for Fridays sale. I don't have one major project to complete, instead, I have a bunch of projects that need to get done today (or by the end of the week). So my tackle my extend to the end of the week.

Here is my tackle-it-Tuesday's to-do list:

Housework:

  1. Finish laundry (2 loads)

  2. Pick up LR.

  3. Pick up FR.

  4. Pick up kitchen.

  5. Clean/make salsa, etc with tomatoes.

  6. Clean carrots.

  7. Clean bathroom.

  8. Put laundry away in bedroom.

  9. Clean off desk.

  10. Put away storage boxes-kids school projects, pictures, etc.

  11. Clean out refrigerator.

Projects:

  1. Sort teams for U8-Rec soccer.

  2. Work on venues/brackets for CMSL.

  3. Pull down clothes from attic-go through & get ready for garage sale on Friday.

  4. Fundraising letter ready for Dance.

I think this is all that I need to accomplish before the end of the week. Wish me luck in getting it all done!

Tackle-it-Tuesday Updated-Complete (Cleaning/Defrosting Freezers)

My tackle for today is to empty out my freezers, defrost the deep freezer, wipe them down & re-inventory what I have in the freezer.

The Freezer Chicks, meet last Wednesday for our monthly food exchange and I know what I put in the freezer....I just don't have a good record of what's still in there!

I have posted a before and will post the after pictures after the tackle is completed! Check back later this evening for the completed tackle.

Check out more Tackle-it-Tuesday Projects, hosted by 5 Minutes for Mom.

Project is completed:

1. Emptied out the freezer into coolers.

2.Power washed all out & defrosted it.

3.Returned to the freezer and organized everything back into the freezer by categories.

4. Inventoried what I had.

5. Put inventory on a spreadsheet.

6. Placed in Meal Planning Section of Family Notebook.

Still looks like a lot of items in the freezer but it's organized into sections & I now know what is in there and can plan my meals around what is in the freezer!

Tackle It Tuesday (Freezer Chicks)

My tackle it Tuesday project is to complete my remaining 2 freezer meals for our Freezer Food exchange.

I am to make the following recipes:

1. Tuna Tortellini Gratin-a take on Tuna Noodle Casserole but made with cheese tortellini & Alfredo sauce.
2. Honey-Pecan Chicken
3. Inside-Out Bacon Cheeseburgers. I am flash-freezing them so I can place them in a ziploc bag without them sticking together.

I already prepared the Tuna Tortellini Gratin. I still need to complete the remaining 2 recipes. The chicken portion is rather easy-it's basically a dump but the honey sauce I have to prepare. The burgers will be rather easy as well! I just need to find time to get everything completed!

In addition to getting the meals completed.....I really need to defrost and reorganize my freezer. That may have to wait until Wednesday or Thursday morning.

My cousin's four daughters (ages 14, 12, 10 & 7 plus my four-ages 14, 11, 8 & 6!) are here for a visit and after I take GLH & SJH to the dentist, we are going to go to the pool before CSHs soccer games. UPDATE-We ended up going bowling. It was a lot of fun!

Tackle It Tuesday UPDATED (Household Inventory Notebook-The Kitchen)

One of my "40-Before-40" items that I want to complete before I turn 40 is complete a Household Inventory Notebook. A good home managers job is to keep a household inventory of all of the household furnishings and other personal possessions.

This inventory provides a recond for insurance purposed and owner identification in case of loss. There are several ways to do an inventory, I have decided to create an inventory notebook to record the contents of each room. It will be a consuming task but one that will be well worth it in case of a loss.

I decided that the best way to break down this task is to start one room at a time. This week, I will start with the kitchen. Here are the steps that I am going to take:

1. Take pictures of the room from all angles. Take pictures instead cabinets and drawers. Here are the pictures that I took....

2. Send pictures to be printed.

3. Write serial numbers/model numbers of all applicances. Entered onto a spreadsheet.

4. Include paint sample chip for touch up purposes. I have all of our cans labeled in the garage. Write down mix number/brand beside paint chip & where I purchased the paint.

Place everything in notebook under the Kitchen/Dining Room area. If I have time, I may tackle the Living Room as well.

I figure that if I tackle a room every day, I might get it done before my 40th birthday!

Home Alone With So Much Too Do!

Good morning fellow bloggers! I have home today by myself, my three youngest children are in Arkansas in the Mountains with their Grandma, Great-Grandma, Aunt She-She & Uncle Chad. My Aunt & Uncle and their grandsons are there too! My husband and oldest son just pulled out of the driveway for ODP training in St Louis. I could have gone with them but I figured that I would take the opportunity to do some work!

Here is my game plan for the day.....yes I know it's Sunday & it's a day of rest but I can do that this week!...

1. Clean kitchen-mop floors and clean off cabinets.
2. Clean bathroom. I actually completed one of my June-To-Do items: Clean out Bathroom Closet-I emptied in out purchased some organizing bins & re-organized the entire closet. I have more room in the closet than I orginally had!
3. Change sheets on beds.
4. Run sweeper in LR and FR.
5. Finish laundry-I have 3 more loads before washing the sheets. I have one more load to do!
6. Take care of CMSL credits-send to my treasurer-send out an email to teams regarding Fall league registration. Actually completed on Monday morning.
7. Update my prayer journal-print out pages for my special friends-Kim & Tina. I already gave one to another special friend, Mindi one the other day.

If I get all of that completed before 6 pm, I will tackle a corner in the garage. My grandmother is having a garage sale on Friday and Saturday & I would like to take some bigger items in the garage to the sale.

I will check back with you later today & update my progress! Wish me luck in getting everything completed!

Tackle It Tuesday (Living Room Organize/Working on Vision)

My Tackle It Tuesday is rather complex-it's more than tackling an area that needs cleaning & organizing. I started reading the Total Mom Makeover so I working on several areas to achieve my vision. In addition to continuing to organize my home so..hence my complex tackling!

Today's challenges-tackles (vision statements) are:

1. Take CSH to High School Soccer Camp. (Nurturing Children)

2. Workout while CSH is at Camp. (Energized & in shape woman)

3. Grocery Store. (Nurturing Family & Getting healthy by eating healthy foods)

4. Laundry-CWH, GLH, & SJH will be going to Arkansas with Grandma. Get clothes ready & packed. (Nurturing Family)
Folded 2 Loads of Towels (on loveseat)Need washing: another load of towels, whites, sheets (in dirty clothes), colors-probably 2 loads, lights-probably 2 loads, scrubs...

5. Clean desk & living room- here are the before pictures. This room is the first room that we walk into from the garage. So it becomes a dropping ground for everything that comes from the vehicles. As well as the laundry room is adjacent to the room as well-laundry comes out of the dryer and piles on the couch until it gets folded. (Nurturing Family) See AFTER pictures BELOW!!!
6. I would like to get my car claned out today & washed. That is if I have enough energy today to get everything done BEFORE this evenings activities!

7. Read first four chapters of Sister Chicks for Book Club. I'm a multi-tasking woman! I read the four chapters while walking on the treadmill this morning!

In addition to the above tackles-we have evening activities-Dance & Soccer. While I'm at the grocery store, I am going to purchase lunch meat, veggies & fruit to pack to take so we can eat our dinner at the soccer fields/dance studio.

Check out some other tackles at 5 Minutes for Moms. Also, scroll down/or use link to sign my virtual guest book!

All done except for the car clean out! Maybe tomorrow....along with taming the chords under my desk...both sound fun! Yuck!

Tackle It Tuesday (Crossing it Off)

I don't have a specific project to complete for today. My major project is cleaning out & reorganizing my garage which is a month long or more project! My tackle today is a list of things that I need to do today. So my tackle will be crossing off my items off my list as I get them completed! Check back later today and see if I completed them all!

1. Make Beds.

2. Take CSH to Katy Trail to start training for HS Soccer. He will need to run 3 miles in under 21 minutes on a trail and in the heat. I'm going to use this time to walk the trail & get my exercise in for the day!

I ended up walking 2 miles while he ran! Got my exercise in for the day!

3. Pick up down stairs living room.

4. Clean out car.

5. Return some items to Target. Decided to keep the 2 items!

6. Clean off desk.

7. Couple loads of laundry.

8. Dance.

9. Baseball.

10. Soccer.

What are you tackling today?

The FlyLady Mission today in the Master Bedroom is to clean out my drawer of panties, bras & pantyhose. I did that when I cleaned out my closet and dresser. So far this week's zone has been easy!

Great Closet Cleanout is to go through shoes, did that as well. I'm going to go through the shoes in the garage instead!

Got everything done today except clean out my car!!! I also didn't get a chance to go through the shoes in the garage. I will work on that tomorrow!

Tackle It Tuesday (5-8-2007)

As many of you know, I have been in Soccer Land for the last couple of months and haven't posted for awhile. I'm happy to report that, this weekend is our last weekend of games and I'm starting to post and start working on organizing my house again! That is until the the river levels are over the levy in JC and my fields are flooded for this weekend & I have to reschedule games at another location! But I'm not going to worry about that until Thursday! So for today, my tackel it Tuesday plans are:
1. Clean off my desk. Didn't find my USB connector....not sure where it is now! I'm hoping that I didn't leave it at a hotel room.
2. Clean the down stairs family room.
I will post pictures after I clean off my desk & locate my USB connector for my camera!

Tackle It Tuesday

Boy do I have Spring Cleaning Fever! I'm marking off items on my Spring Break Cleaning list! Yeah for me!

Today, my tackle is to finish cleaning my house.

2. Make Sydney's Bed...clean her room.

3. Wash Connor & Collin's sheet...make their beds...clean their room (with their help!)

4. Wash cushions on chairs in kitchen.

5. Wash shower curtain & liner.

This should keep me busy all day!

I will upload pictures after I get everything accomplished!

Tackle it Tuesdays #6 (Goal Setting)

One month in the new year has come and gone and I'm not any closer to getting my goals for the New Year in my routine. This week's Tackle it Tuesday is getting my goals and routines on paper and to start implementing them this month.

Here are the areas/routines that I would like to establish and accomplish this year:

1. Spiritual

2. Physical

3. Daily Routines for Work

4. Daily Routines for my Home

The first area, which I feel it the most important is setting goals and routines for my Spiritual Life and Well-Being. I think this is key to making sure that all of my other goals will be meet.

1. Have a small devotion and prayer each morning. I have several devotionals to choose from. I think I will start with "God Calling" Edited by A.J. Russell. Here is what the inside cover says about the book "Here is a devotional that will bring the reality of God and His constant concern for you into your heart every day of the year. Whatever your circumstances, God Calling cannot fail to bring you closer to God. It will help you overcome your daily worries and draw you ever closer to the peace you're seeking."

2. I am involved in 2 Bible Studies this Spring semester, they are Pathway to Purpose for Women: Connecting Your To-Do List, Your Passions, and God's Purposes for Your Life by Katherine Brazeltonand 12 Extraordinary Women by John MacArthur. Each study doesn't involve intense study like a Beth Moore study would but each needs attention. So each day I need to devote time to reading and doing the homework in each class. My plan for this semester is to alternate each day for reading and studying each book.

The Second Area is Physical, I would like to lose the extra weight that I have gained. Here are some concrete goals (establishing and carrying them out will be another story):

1. Start drinking water each day (as I take a drink of my Dt Dr Pepper!). I don't particularly enjoy drinking water. Most of you know that I'm a die hard Diet Dr Pepper fan and drink 6 to 7 cans a day. So weaning my system into drinking more water will require more effort on my part (and a miracle....I think that I will add this to my morning prayer to God....please encourage and remind me to drink water instead of soda each day!) I know this is key to achieving the over all goal...losing 50-74 pounds.

2. Start working out at least 3-4 times a week. My kiddos get on the bus by 7:45 am each morning, I can be at the gym each day by 8:00 am and get a good hour work-out in before tackling my day. So...here is my plan for the week:

Monday-Work out 8:00-9:00 am
Tuesday-Work out 8:00-9:00 am
Wednesday-Work out 8:00-9:00 am. Weight Watchers meeting at 9:30 am.
Thursday- Work out after Bible Study/Lunch at home or at gym (depending on my mood)
Friday-Work out 8:00-9:00 am.

3. Start counting my points each day with Weight Watchers. I am allowed 26 points per day plus an additional 35 points for the week. I can add those 35 points equally to each day or save them for a special treat during the week, like a dessert, dinner out etc!

The third area, I need to tackle is establishing specific routines for work. I run a competitive soccer league and there are times when I don't have as much work to do and times where I can't seem to get anything done but work and I really don't to be working at midnight! I think establishing specific routines each day or setting a time line will help those weeks not seem so overwhelming.

Here is what needs to be accomplished for the month of February for work:
1. Brackets set and email out to teams. Need to complete by Friday.
2. Email referees regarding the remaining Futsal schedule. Get schedule set by Wednesday.
3. Email coaches and managers regarding the CMSL Referee Clinic. Need to complete by Wednesday.
4. Set up email group list for Spring 2007 season. Run a test email. Need to complete by Friday.
5. Email referees regarding the Spring season. Need to complete by end of next week.
6. Get black-out dates on spread sheet. Complete by 2/13/07.
7. Spreadsheet to Mick, all registered teams and amount due. Complete by 2/9/07.
8. Referee and Futsal pages sent to webmaster. Complete by 2/15/07.
9. Start working on schedule. Complete by 2/23/07.
10. Schedule coaches meeting and AGM. Complete by 2/12/07.

The last area is establishing daily routines for getting my house in order and de-cluttered. This, I believe, is also key into having a happy and healthy home for my family. I get emails each day from the FlyLady and haven't looked at them much during the last couple of weeks and my house looks like it! I like how she divides your home into zones and each week she tackles that zone. For the month of February, however, I'm going to make a general To-Bo list of everything that needs to be done and tackle it over the month of Feb and starting in March after I have put out all of my Hot Zones I can start the weekly zones and work on keeping my house clean!

Here is what I need to get done this month:
1. Catch up on laundry and put laundry away! Not just set it in each room.
2. Run sweeper in each room.
3. Mop kitchen and bathroom floors.
4. Dust.
5. Organize my closet.
6. Pick up LR and FR and return items to appropriate rooms.

This list doesn't look like much but with my work schedule, it's a doable plan for this month.

Okay....now that I tackled my goals for the month of February, you will need to check back and see if I'm getting them accomplished! Check out other Tackle-it-Tuesday participants at 5 Minutes for Moms! Have a good week!
